Baptist Women's World Day of Prayer
November 7, 2011 by Lorraine

On this Baptist Women's Day of Prayer, we as your people, call on all people of different faiths in the United States to pray for our Nation and its leaders.

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

"The man who mobilizes the Christian church to pray will make the greatest contribution to world evangelization in history." Andrew Murray

Galatians 5:22-26
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Will you please join me as we pray to our heavenly Father...

Lord, we have become a nation ruled by impatience, selfishness, jealousy, envy and anger. We witness daily the struggles of our own self destruction, causing our own suffering, distress, anguish, and fear as we criticize, point fingers, pass blame, crying out with tears of pain. Our hearts torn by our own hands.

Abba Father, the fruit of the Spirit, You are love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

Father, we call on Your people in every corner of the globe: calling upon You to do the impossible, break the unbreakable and reach the unreachable.

Clothe us in positive attitudes, of joy, gladness and abounding love, led by the Spirit of God. Lord, we pray that You remove our fears, supply our needs, and restore the hope of our economic uncertainty.

Lord, we pray for compassion, fairness and discernment towards those we deem as different from our standards. Teach us to break down the walls of prejudice, and defiance by accepting all people, as we are all made in Your image.

Lord, we pray that as Christ's ambassadors, Baptist women will be a people of peace and understanding in a world characterized by racial, religious and ethnic tension.

Father, we pray for the many new initiatives on behalf of abused and trafficked women and children. We pray for those left homeless, stressed and in financial ruin as the result of natural and manmade disasters.

Lord, grant us the knowledge that "righteousness exalts a nation", as we pray that our leaders are given wisdom, courage and divine direction.

Father, equip and exhort Your people to pray informed and compassionate prayers.

"While the results of prayer are not measurable, we know that the power of prayer is likewise incalculable." Author Unknown
