Press Release
Sharing H.O.P.E. Center Grand Opening:
Hosting National Crime Victims’ Rights Week Event April 8, 2017
Victims of crime and trauma will be remembered and supported at the Sharing H.O.P.E. Center, 10461 Pippin Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on April 8, 2017. As part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, the SHC will host a 1 mile walk, memorial wall, art projects, and various speakers addressing crime prevention and recovery.
Representatives will be available from the Colerain and Mt. Healthy Police Departments, domestic violence, and legal services. Family members who have lost a loved one due to violent crime will share their story. In addition, recovery and life skills training resources will be provided for victims of the heroin epidemic. Participants hear from experts in recovery, safety, and prevention.
The Sharing H.O.P.E. Center opened in December 2016 to bridge needs with resources by offering a listening ear and genuine care followed by offering the resources that help individuals overcome the challenges they face. In the first six weeks of operation, twenty individuals were enrolled in the H.O.P.E. program which embraces a holistic approach to address the needs of individuals and families. These include:
- Health & Wellness; O. Opportunities for Employment & Advancement; P. Personal Development;
- Education & Equipping.
The Sharing H.O.P.E. Center is also accepting the challenge of providing entrepreneurial solutions to help victims of heroin addiction. The QRT Chaplains accompany police to persuade overdose victims to go immediately to a treatment facility. The QRT Chaplain accompanies the victim to the treatment center, builds a relationship through frequent contact with the victim while in treatment, and facilitates housing, education, and employment after treatment discharge to insure continued recovery progress.
C.A.R.E. Chaplains help homeowners in lower income neighborhoods prevent crime by providing volunteers to repair the home’s exterior, mow overgrown lawns, and remove debris. The C.A.R.E. Chaplains provide resources if the individual or family members need mental or physical health, financial, or spiritual services.
“We are so pleased with the way the Sharing Hope Center is making Colerain, Mt. Healthy, and surrounding neighborhoods a better looking, safer place to live. We are pleased to be developing a strong partnership between the Colerain Family Justice Center and the Sharing Hope Center to support victims of crime, trauma, and those in recovery. I strongly encourage you to support this event and the work of the SHC.”
Mark Denney, Chief of Police, Colerain Township
